Insights on the Libya Sanctions Committee

The Sanctions Committee on Libya will have its first meeting tomorrow at expert level to discuss its working methods. Since resolution 1970 was adopted the sanctions committee has tried to meet but competition with existing sanctions committees for both space and interpreters as well as the adoption of resolution 1973 – which meant its guidelines had to be revised – has delayed its first meeting.

On Monday the chair of the 1970 Sanctions Committee, the Permanent Representative of Protugal, José Filipe Moraes Cabral, will provide the 30 day report on its work to the Council as stipulated in resolution 1970.
